An Evening in
Buenos Aires

Argentine tango, gypsy jazz & the wine of the city that invented the dance.

THURSDAY · AUGUST 20, 2026 · ONLY 75 SEATS
Lisbon sold out. Twice.
The series travels to Argentina next. One night, 75 seats.

Tango was born a century ago in the port neighborhoods of Buenos Aires — in the dance halls and dockside cafés where immigrants, sailors, and dreamers put their longing into motion. It is elegant and a little dangerous, desire and distance at the same time. For one evening, we're turning Battery Park into a Porteño wine bar: live gypsy jazz as you settle in with your first glass, Argentine wine, and at the center of the night, tango — close enough to feel.

"Tango is a sad thought
that can be danced."
— ENRIQUE SANTOS DISCÉPOLO

You don't need to know how to dance. There's a live demonstration, then a short guided lesson — enough to feel it in your own feet, and no pressure if you'd rather just watch. The room only holds 75, and this one won't repeat the same way twice.

The Programme

Three Movements

I
Arrival & First Pour · 7:00

Acoustic gypsy jazz and global café music, warm and unhurried. Argentine wine, low light, and a room settling into itself.

II
The Tango · 7:45

The room quiets. A live tango demonstration by professional dancers, then a short guided lesson so you can feel it in your own feet. The part everyone talks about afterward.

III
Swing & Celebration · 8:15

Django Reinhardt standards and café swing, with Christian Howes and Dave Pellow sitting in. The energy lifts, the wine keeps flowing, the night opens back up.

Tickets are live.
